Cattle Market Report
530 cattle were sold through the ring at the Ian Weir & Son Lismore Saleyards on Tuesday 14th October 2025.
Most classes of cattle sold to a slightly cheaper trend but sellers were happy with the results considering the local grass conditions at the moment.
Heavy cows sold from $3.25 to $3.68 per kilo depending on condition. Chris and Margaret Paddon's Angus off Rous topped at $2,395. Medium cows ranged from $2.80 to $3.20 per kilo and most lightweights range from $1.80 to $2.60 per kilo.
Weaner steers were mainly of secondary quality. The better lines fetch from $4.50 to $5.20 per kilo. Mark McAnnelly's black Simmental x steers off Bexhill sold for $4.88 per kilo, a return of $1,457. Secondary steers sold from $3.80 to $4.50 per kilo. Plain quality and bull calves sold from $2.70 to $3.40 per kilo.
Most of the weaner heifers this week sold in the $3.40 to $4.00 per kilo range with the odd line fetching $4.15 per kilo. Secondary lines and lightweights ranged from $2.50 to $3.20 per kilo.
The sale was conducted by George & Fuhrmann incorporating Ian Weir & Son. The next sale at the Lismore Saleyards will be on 28th October 2025.
